The Barons of Lyonesse

The Barons can field a large army that is well armoured and has access to a wide assortment of weapons, including the fearsome longbow. Their infantry are relatively cheap so their regiments tend to be large. They have some of the most well armoured units in the game and have access to the elite Paladins that are among the most powerful knights in the game.

Strengths

  • The armies of Lyonesse have access to a wide range of infantry and cavalry and can adapt themselves to almost any opposition. They have access to light, medium and heavy version of their cavalry and infantry.
  • The heavy infantry and cavalry of Lyonesse are among the most well armoured units in the game. They are still relatively cheap and can be fielded in impressive numbers. Their high armour makes them very difficult to shift.
  • Lyonesse has a wide range of options when it comes to missile fire. They have access to the powerful longbow and are able to hammer their enemies at range. For closer range, they have the very cost effective crossbowmen. For more mobile armies, Lyonnese Barons can field large regiments of horse archers.
  • Lyonesse have some of the most powerful knights in the game. Their heavy cavalry are very well armoured and still relatively cheap. Their Paladins are very powerful and able to defeat the knights of most other armies in straight forward combat.
  • The Wizard lords of Lyonesse are uncharacteristically brave for spell casters. They make excellent leaders of units as they provide both a high morale and powerful magic.

Weaknesses

  • - The infantry and cavalry have a low magic resistance. Lyonesse armies are vulnerable to enemy magic and eldritch attacks.
  • - Most of the more heavily armoured Lyonnesse units are painfully slow. It is vital for the Lyonesse player to position these units well from the onset of battle.

  • - Aside from the elite Paladins, the warriors of Lyonesse are only of average skill with melee weapons and missiles. However, they can usually make up for this with raw numbers.
